Solid modeling is the modern work horse of machine and tooling designers of this decade. Solid modeling allows the user to develop all the parts of a particular machine into an assembly that can be simulated with the exact intended motion for evaluation of the design. This allows complete digital analysis of a particular part or assembly reducing wasted time and money on prototypes or preproduction tooling. Further, the 3-D solid model allows the designer to maintain an optimized visual image of the design allowing for greater clarity and ultimately efficiency. The concept is the next best method besides holding the part in your hand.
Designers who become effective users of a solid modeling system will become faster, more efficient and more effective communicators of fit, form and function of designs. The models generated in solid modeler type packages are inherently loaded with data that can be used for many other applications including engineering drawings, machining operations, machine control, property analysis, and marketing materials for clarity of customer communication.
Designer and Manufacturing engineering staff will learn how to generate part models, assembly models from those parts, and drawings. You’ll learn basic modeling methods and a parametric solid modeling application (Solid Works).
Course Purpose
• Develop solid modeling skills relevant to your organizations design needs.
• Incorporate relational modeling data into your organizations product development.
• Learn how to optimize the use of graphic models to communicate with customers and perform product evaluations.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
• Develop solid modeled parts and assemblies.
• Create associative drawings from parts and assemblies.
• Prepare models and files for export applications.
• Troubleshoot problems and model build errors.
• Strategize the customer needs into an effectively constructed model.
