An important trait for many Lean Enterprises is the ability to consistently achieve short set-up or changeover times known as Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED). With this capability, the Lean Enterprise will quickly become the supplier or vendor of choice. Companies who implement this element of Lean will be able to respond more quickly to customers and gain a competitive advantage by carrying out economical short runs with quick turn around times.
Course Purpose
