College Partners with Makerspaces

To promote entrepreneurship and prepare students with maker skills sought by employers, Sierra College Makerspaces has partnered with community makerspaces -- Hacker Lab, Curious Forge and Truckee Roundhouse. A makerspace is an inclusive, collaborative community, inspired by creativity and innovation, where people with unique ideas use tools to build projects, start companies and make their dreams come true. Funded in part by the CCC Maker grant from the California Community College Chancellor's Office, Sierra Makerspaces is a bold initiative to transform what we teach and how students learn. The grant is also funding student internships with local employers. Read the Sierra Makerspaces brochure.
